The CROWN AGEE PYREX backstamp is an early version of the CROWN PYREX backstamp. In 1963, Crown Crystal Glass introduced a new company logo and changed its pyrex brand name. Ads in mid 1963 show the new Crown Pyrex logo with the name AGEE tucked into it in small letters. Some packaging with this marking exists as well.

Pyrex is a sub-group of borosilicate. Allrecipes. Soda-lime glass is the most common glass type in kitchens since it's used for most drinkware from juice cups to jars. Untreated soda-lime glass is more susceptible to breaking from extreme temperature changes. This shock expands the glass at different rates, resulting in cracks and fissures.

Even without its stem and basket, a percolator in good shape makes an attractive coffeepot and can sell for $15 to $20, or for about $50 for a complete model. But colored Pyrex must look shiny and new. "A lot of it was ruined by dishwashers," says David Ross, a vintage-kitchenware dealer from Melrose, Massachusetts.

JAJ Pyrex: A Brief History - James A Jobling (JAJ) took over the Wear Flint Glass Works in Sunderland, UK in 1885. The company acquired the patent rights to produce Pyrex in 1921 and continued to create Pyrex for another 50 years. In 1973, Jobling's license expired and Corning took control of the company and the Pyrex England stamp was used.
